On June 4, the Kazakhstan Technology Summit took place in Almaty, where Asel Marchenko and Flowsell were recognized as leaders. The adoption of AI is hindered by skepticism: only 3% of companies are willing to allocate 10–20% of their budget to such projects. Successful cases include the qCloudy chatbot for the Baiterek Holding (response time of 10 seconds) and the automation of procurement processes by Provizor. Speakers emphasized the importance of the human factor and the difference between using ChatGPT and corporate AI implementation.
How to make effective decisions in milliseconds? How to launch AI into a data stream? How to build an implementation roadmap for Gen AI in a corporation? These and many other questions were addressed in Almaty on June 4 at the Kazakhstan Technology Summit, organized by the partner platform Kazakhstan Growth Forum.
Technological development seems to be accelerating at an increasingly cosmic pace every day. Choosing the right technologies for a specific company is quite difficult. However, some manage to do it, and the summit recognized the leaders:
The Best CIO — Asel Marchenko, Chief Technology Officer, National Payment Corporation of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The Best IT-Project — Flowsell company.
Special attention at the summit was paid to the blockers of technology implementation in domestic business. Companies in Kazakhstan mostly use AI as a tool for optimization and analytics, but rarely as a driver of transformation. AI projects are rarely allocated a separate budget: only 3% of companies are ready to allocate 10-20% of the total budget. One should not underestimate the general skepticism: during one of the panel discussions, speakers noted that distrust in technology is one of the key barriers. It is important to find a balance between human and technological factors — because in the data business, people cannot be avoided. Therefore, the opinion that robots will soon replace people is a myth.
They also discussed the fact that people still do not understand that "using ChatGPT" does not equal "implementing AI in your business." AI in corporations involves predictive models, automation, bot implementation, anti-fraud systems, and much more. Although AI tools can also bring great benefits if used correctly. Arman Suleimenov, founder and CEO of nFactorial School, focused primarily on the practical use of such tools: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, and Grok.
The summit also discussed successful cases of technology implementation in Kazakhstani companies. Sergey Bobko, Business Development Director at Servercore in Kazakhstan, presented a case of collaboration with the Kazakhstani platform Provizor, which automates the procurement of medicines for 3,000 pharmacies.
Amir Sadykov, Business Development Director at qCloudy, presented two illustrative cases: in the first, implemented for the Baiterek Holding, qCloudy developed an AI chatbot operating in Russian and Kazakh. Previously, customer inquiries were processed manually by operators. After implementing the solution, the average response time was reduced to 10 seconds, and round-the-clock availability was ensured. In the second case — automation of agricultural machinery inventory — AI replaced manual analysis and inspector reporting.
Although the Kazakhstan Technology Summit was entirely dedicated to technology, almost every speaker emphasized the importance of properly valuing the human factor, without which the operation of even the most brilliant systems would be impossible. And even if robots someday become more adept than us in certain aspects, people will still remain the most important part of any business.
