A Uzbek citizen founded a startup in the US, which is valued at over $17 million.
AI company CoRun.ai, co-founded by Nodir Ruzmatov from Uzbekistan, is building an intelligent layer for fleet management, integrating operations, safety, and finance. In an interview with The Tech, Ruzmatov discussed the startup's journey, its key achievements, and shared advice for future founders.

How It All Started
I work at the intersection of technology, data, and economic systems. Before launching my startup, I invested in and managed logistics infrastructure in the United States — including warehouse facilities and fleets — while simultaneously driving their digital transformation.
The product idea emerged during a conversation with my partner in Germany. At the time, he was a top executive at a company with revenues of over €1 billion, managing large fleets across Europe. We began comparing how operational decisions are made in Germany versus the United States — not at the technology level, but at the level of data discipline, efficiency, and cost management.
The difference was fundamental: in the U.S., there is a lot of data, but it is used in a fragmented manner; in Germany, there is less data, but it is integrated into the decision-making system.
We realized that the problem was not a lack of software or ELDs, but a lack of operational intelligence.
This led to the idea of creating a platform that brings European logic of efficiency and data management to the American freight transportation market.

Startup Launch
We started not with a product, but with hypotheses.
Using the fleets I had already worked with in the U.S., we began deeply digitizing operations and comparing metrics with European benchmarks. Only after confirming the economic impact did we formally establish the company and begin scaling this approach.
The team was formed deliberately: data and AI engineers, specialists in logistics operational processes, and compliance and safety experts. This combination of skills allowed us to create not just abstract software, but a comprehensive system that seamlessly integrates into real business processes, solves specific company tasks, and ensures stability and efficiency at all levels.
Target Audience
The product is designed for small and medium-sized fleets, which form the backbone of the U.S. logistics economy but often lack access to advanced analytics.
Our users include:
— fleet owners
— operational and dispatch teams
— safety and compliance departments.
The platform helps:
— increase profitability at the level of individual trucks and drivers
— reduce fuel, maintenance, and insurance costs
— automate compliance
— shift from reactive to predictive solutions.
To date, the product is used by commercial fleets managing hundreds of trucks in several U.S. states, and is integrated with infrastructure partners within the ELD and fuel network ecosystems.

Incubation Programs
We did not follow the classic accelerator model. The company grew through industry pilots, direct work with operators, and gradual scaling. Funding was a combination of founder capital, strategic investors, and customer revenue. The focus was always on economics, retention, and scalability, rather than on demonstrative metrics, which allowed us to build a sustainable and truly functioning business.
On Challenges
The main challenge was adapting European operational discipline to the fragmented U.S. market.
We quickly realized that AI must be explainable, every recommendation must be tied to money or risk, and simplicity is more important than complexity.
The key lesson is not to over-engineer the system.
Advice for Founders: Start not with technology, but with economics and incentives. If the system works, software will become its extension.
Achievements
The company’s achievements are impressive: an AI platform has been created that is organically integrated into real fleets and has demonstrated measurable economic impact. The team successfully transferred European efficiency models to the U.S. market, and the product is positioned not merely as tracking software, but as a comprehensive layer of managerial intelligence that enables strategic decision-making.
Recently, the company raised $3.5 million in a Seed round at a valuation of $17.5 million. The investment came from Access Capital Management, Silicon Valley business angels, and logistics industry experts.

Plans
By the end of the year, we plan to:
— scale deployments with large operators
— expand predictive analytics for fuel, maintenance, and risks
— launch AI agents for insurance and safety analytics
— deepen partnerships with institutional players.
The long-term goal is to make the platform the core decision-making system for logistics operations.
