Uzbekistan is building a Center for Future Technologies and new IT parks in Nurota and Chirchik
In the city of Nurafshon, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the activities of Cyber University, an institution specializing in information security and digital technologies.
Transforming the country into a regional IT hub is designated as one of the priority goals of the "Uzbekistan – 2030" Strategy. To achieve this, particular attention is paid to the digitalization of public administration and economic sectors, the development of modern telecommunications infrastructure, the training of competitive IT professionals, and the expansion of the innovation ecosystem.
Thanks to the favorable conditions created in recent years, the number of IT companies, high-paying jobs, and the volume of digital services exports have consistently grown in the country. The training of young specialists with modern knowledge and skills has acquired special significance in this process.
The Cyber University State University was established in accordance with the President's decree of January 20, 2025, as an independent higher education institution under the Ministry of Digital Technologies.
The university trains specialists meeting international requirements for the fields of information and cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and robotics, cyber law, digital forensics, and cyber economics.
Today, the university operates two faculties and four departments. Approximately one thousand students are enrolled in eight undergraduate programs and two master's programs.
The university features a 1,585-seat academic building, an 805-bed student dormitory, modern sports complexes, a cafeteria, and an information-resource center.
The head of state reviewed the conditions created at the university. A warm conversation took place with the university students.
Shavkat Mirmonovich Mirziyoyev, President of Uzbekistan
In the future, the demand for specialists like you will only grow. If each industry and each region do not develop in step with digital technologies, the country will not be able to develop successfully. Therefore, you must constantly work on yourself and master the most modern knowledge.
The university team successfully competes in international cybersecurity competitions and hackathons held within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. The university, built on principles of environmental sustainability, has been awarded the status of "Green Campus."
Subsequently, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev participated in the ceremony for laying the foundation stone for the construction of the Center for Future Technologies, which will be built on the territory adjacent to the university.
In his speech, the head of state emphasized that algorithms, the foundations of which were laid by our great ancestor Muhammad al-Khwarizmi, have today become the foundation of the global economy and an integral part of people's daily lives.
It was noted that in the modern world, competition is measured not in years and months, but in minutes and seconds. States that delay digital transformation, do not master artificial intelligence technologies, and do not invest in innovation will fall behind global development.
In recent years, Uzbekistan's achievements in the field of information technology have received wide recognition from the international community. This year, the volume of venture investments increased fivefold, thanks to which our country took first place in the world in terms of the growth rate of this indicator.
The volume of Uzbekistan's national startup ecosystem has reached nearly $4.5 billion. To support innovative ideas, the Presidential Startup Competition with a prize fund of $5 million has been launched.
In addition, Uzbekistan has become one of the founding states of the World Organization for Artificial Intelligence Cooperation and has taken its place among countries participating in shaping the global agenda in this field.
Approximately $500 million in investments will be attracted for the construction of the center, which will cover a total area of 36 hectares. It will become a unified innovation ecosystem combining education, scientific research, technology testing, and production processes.
The city of Nurafshon was chosen not by chance. Here, at Cyber University, approximately one thousand students are trained as specialists in cybersecurity and information protection. Now, a holistic innovation cluster will be formed around the university, which will become a model for the entire country.
Six modern laboratories will be created at the center in the fields of cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, cloud technologies, and cryptography.
In addition, an artificial intelligence data center and an engineering cluster will be established, along with a center for the production of secure computers, data transmission equipment, and high-tech tokens. A special test site will be organized for testing unmanned aerial vehicles and robotics.
With the assistance of the Asian Development Bank, a platform will be created for the commercialization of domestic technologies and the promotion of national products in international markets. To ensure stable power supply for the projects, capacity of five megawatts will be built.
It is planned to attract leading global companies, universities, and scientists to the center, as well as to create modern social, cultural, and everyday infrastructure for students and staff.
Most importantly, over 5,000 highly qualified jobs will be created within this innovation ecosystem. The center will become a powerful stimulus for the development of the digital economy of the Tashkent region and the further strengthening of the region's innovation potential.
As noted, in the current year, the export of digital services in the Tashkent region is expected to increase to $50 million. To further expand the existing potential, construction has also begun on modern IT park buildings in the cities of Nurafshon and Chirchik.
It was emphasized that the main goal is to turn this place into a center for artificial intelligence and digitalization of the Tashkent region, a modern complex where young people can fully reveal their knowledge, talent, and abilities.
It was noted that scientific developments, technological solutions, and discoveries implemented at the Center for Future Technologies will serve to further strengthen the international prestige of our country.
During the ceremony, construction was also launched on nine new projects with a total cost of $465 million, which will be implemented with the participation of Russian, Chinese, and German companies.
