Uzbekistan presented its IT ecosystem at Mobile World Congress in Spain
Uzbekistan presented its IT ecosystem at the international technology congress Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona and held a series of meetings with international partners to expand cooperation in the field of digital technologies.
As part of the event, the Uzbek delegation, led by the Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov, participated in the opening of the congress, as well as in panel discussions and round tables dedicated to the development of telecommunications, artificial intelligence, and digital infrastructure. During the speeches, it was noted that artificial intelligence has been identified as one of the country's national priorities, a fact enshrined in state decisions adopted in 2025.
During the discussions, special attention was paid to the development of international cooperation against the backdrop of the rapid growth of artificial intelligence technologies. Representatives of Uzbekistan informed congress participants about the state policy in the field of radio frequency spectrum management, aimed at expanding internet access in remote and underserved regions. It was noted that favorable conditions and incentive mechanisms are being created in the country for telecommunications operators, which contributes to attracting investment in the development of telecommunications infrastructure.
At a separate panel dedicated to satellite services, the delegation presented the regulatory framework governing the activities of satellite operators. In particular, tax incentives for companies creating ground infrastructure and simplified procedures for launching services were presented. At the same time, the need for the formation of international regulatory mechanisms for the activities of satellite operators, taking into account the national legislation of different countries, was discussed.
In addition, event participants discussed issues of information security and cybersecurity. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of implementing security requirements at the early stages of developing digital solutions, as well as ensuring the resilience and reliability of artificial intelligence systems, data infrastructure, and digital platforms.
As part of bilateral negotiations, Uzbekistan's representatives presented international companies with the conditions for investing in the development of data centers. The delegation spoke about existing benefits and mechanisms for supporting investors, which make the country an attractive platform for placing digital infrastructure.
For the first time, a national stand of IT Park Uzbekistan was organized at the congress. It presented the opportunities of the Uzbek IT ecosystem, including startups, GovTech initiatives, as well as projects for the development of data centers and cloud infrastructure. Visitors were also told about the country's potential as a regional digital hub between Europe and Asia.
At the end of the event, delegation representatives invited congress participants to take part in the international event GSMA Samarkand, which will take place in Samarkand in May. It is expected that the forum will become a platform for discussing the development of the telecom industry and digital technologies in the Eurasian region.
