A meeting with a delegation from the Republic of Korea took place at the headquarters of IT Park Uzbekistan. The delegation included representatives of the GBTP Technopark, Gyeongbuk Technopark, and Halla University. The parties discussed possible formats for cooperation in the field of manufacturing digitalization, IT personnel training, and the creation of joint service solutions.
During the negotiations, Mahliyo Muksinova, Director for Export Development of IT Services at IT Park Uzbekistan, presented the IT Park Uzbekistan ecosystem. Special attention was given to supporting resident companies operating in global markets.
The Korean side shared plans to launch a Smart Factory project in the Fergana region with the support of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy of the Republic of Korea (MOTIE). As part of the future project, it is planned to transform a manufacturing enterprise with a focus on digital technologies. One of the key discussion points was the possibility of establishing a service center in Uzbekistan that would participate in the development of digital solutions and provide technological support for the project.
IT Park Uzbekistan, in turn, proposed placing the service component of project development in Uzbekistan and involving resident companies with relevant expertise. Representatives of GBTP expressed interest in this approach and noted that they plan to transfer part of the tasks to the Uzbek partner, and in the future – use it as an outsourcing center to provide IT services from Uzbekistan to Korea.
The parties also discussed the possibility of conducting joint training programs, exchanging experience, and working out specific solutions in a B2B and B2G format. One of the next steps will be for GBTP to submit a concept note describing the key areas of cooperation. IT Park Uzbekistan will act as a coordinator in the process of selecting and engaging suitable residents.
The initiative has become an important step toward expanding international partnerships and strengthening Uzbekistan's position as a reliable IT hub for cooperation with Asian markets.
