Uber Technologies announced an agreement to acquire Getir’s Turkish delivery business, including food, grocery, retail goods, and water delivery. The deal will be completed after receiving regulatory approval and satisfying standard closing conditions, Uber and investment firm Mubadala Investment Company said on February 9. The agreement marks another step in strengthening Uber’s position in the Turkish market and a new phase in Getir’s development.
Upon completion of the deal, Uber plans to combine Getir’s capabilities with those of Trendyol Go, a service already part of the company’s ecosystem. This is expected to expand choices for users, generate more orders for couriers, and increase demand from restaurants and retail sellers across Turkey. Getir users will continue to access the service through the Getir Super App, gaining access to a wider selection of Trendyol Go restaurants, while Trendyol Go customers will be able to order Getir groceries directly within their app.
Turkey remains a strategically important market for the company due to its developed digital economy and active consumer base. The deal reflects Getir’s business resilience and the progress the company has achieved over the past year, as well as confirming the fund’s long-term investment interest in the Turkish market.
Getir’s expertise in ultra-fast delivery will become part of Uber’s global ecosystem. This will improve the service for users, couriers, restaurants, and retailers. Getir was founded in 2015 and became the world’s first service to offer grocery delivery within minutes; today, the company is developing a super app that combines grocery, food, and local seller deliveries.
