At the online Demo Day, Terra showcased 300 teams presenting their projects. Five startups were highlighted: Terra aggregates fitness app data via API; Blushh offers audio stories for women in Asia, attracting paying subscribers; Prospa is a neobank for micro-businesses in Nigeria with $50,000 in monthly revenue; BrioHR automates HR processes in Southeast Asia; and AgendaPro provides online booking services to businesses in Latin America, with a user base of 3,000.
The world’s leading IT startup incubator held its Demo Day in a fully online format for the second time. The 300 participating teams had one minute each to interest potential investors in their projects. We have prepared for you five of the most interesting projects from the Demo Day.
Terra. A solution for all users of fitness apps who are tired of the fact that running data is stored in one app, while weightlifting metrics are kept in a completely different one. Working via API, Terra allows fitness app developers to share data with each other for the sake of user convenience. The creators of the service want to do for the fitness data market what Plaid did for fintech. However, experts from Techcrunch predict that developers will be reluctant to use Terra. After all, everyone wants their own app to be the primary one for the user.
Blushh. Former Google, Amazon, Harvard, and BCG professionals presented a service of short, sensual audio stories for women in Asia. Consciously entering a stigmatized territory, the creators of Blushh see great potential in their project. There is much less "adult" content for women on the market than for men. As market pioneers, they are ready to draw conclusions about the need for such a project. In just one month, they managed to attract a hundred paying subscribers, and they are confident that this is not the limit. Of course, there is a risk that not every investor will want to invest in such a bold startup, but that makes it even more interesting to see how soon Blushh will break even.
Prospa. A fintech project for micro-enterprises in Nigeria. For $7 a month, the creators offer companies convenient tools from their neobank: create a company account, transfer and withdraw money from major Nigerian banks, and make international transfers. The startup has already achieved a monthly revenue of $50,000. According to the creators, this was not difficult to achieve because the demand for the service is very high. In Nigeria, there are 37 million micro-businesses that need this service. Therefore, the developers are not in a hurry to scale the project and are currently focused on the domestic market.
BrioHR. A startup that helps companies in Southeast Asia effectively manage their personnel. With BrioHR, you can track your employees' progress against set metrics, hire new staff, send your personnel on vacation, and even pay their salaries. The creators believe that Southeast Asia is exactly the place where such a project is needed. Since business process automation in the countries of the region is so outdated that the market has long been in need of fresh solutions.
AgendaPro. The project offers a simple solution for business owners in Latin America – online booking for clients, queue management, and statistics tracking. The startup already has three thousand users, and in the future, according to the creators, more than four million enterprises could use AgendaPro. The developers believe that the simplicity of the idea is compensated by its high demand.
