Telegram has unveiled a major update featuring AI bots and chat automation.
Telegram has released a major update featuring AI bots, chat automation, and search across more than 100 million stickers.
Telegram has launched one of its largest updates of 2026, adding more than 10 new features and hundreds of improvements for users and developers. The main focus of the update is the development of AI tools, automation, and bot capabilities within the messenger.
Users can now invoke AI bots directly in any personal or group chats by mentioning @username. Bots will be able to answer questions, verify information, generate text and images, and perform various tasks directly within the conversation. Telegram emphasizes that bots only see the messages in which they were mentioned and their responses.
Another major innovation is interaction between bots. With the update, bots can respond not only to users but also to other bots. Telegram notes that this opens up possibilities for creating fully autonomous AI agents and automating workflows.
Telegram has also improved the display of bot responses: messages can now be rendered incrementally as text is generated, without the need to wait for the full response. The update features new animations and faster performance thanks to improvements in the Bot API.
A new chat automation feature has also appeared. Users can now connect bots to their profile and allow them to reply to messages on their behalf. During setup, users can choose which chats the bot will have access to—for example, only new conversations or all users except contacts.
The AI message editor now supports custom styles. Users can create their own sets of instructions for generating text in a specific style—for example, for formatting posts, promotional materials, or local memes within communities. Each style can be saved and shared with other users via a link.
Telegram has also significantly expanded search for emojis and stickers. The search panel now offers access to more than 100 million user-generated emojis and stickers in 36 languages. To power this feature, Telegram uses AI models based on the Cocoon network, which automatically scan and tag images.
The update also affects polls. Group and channel administrators now have access to interactive voting statistics with graphs showing real-time changes in vote counts. Restrictions on poll participation have also been introduced—users can now allow voting only for channel subscribers or users from specific countries.
Among other new features are the ability to send silent scheduled messages and a function for group moderators to delete reactions, including mass deletion of reactions from a specific user. According to Telegram, the update also includes more than 200 fixes and improvements for apps on various platforms.
