Startup Galaxea AI was valued at over $29 billion after a new round of investments
Chinese embodied AI startup Galaxea AI has raised approximately 2 billion yuan in a B+ funding round, valuing the company at around 200 billion yuan or more than $29 billion. This places it among the largest players in the segment, alongside another Chinese project, Galbot.
The round included participation from industrial investors, major long-term funds, and state capital. In February, the company had already raised about 1 billion yuan in a B round.
The raised funds will be directed toward scaling fundamental model research, developing a global ecosystem, refining Vision-Language-Action and World Action Models, and accelerating the commercial deployment of embodied AI.
Galaxea was founded in 2023 and focuses on integrating models that combine understanding of the physical world with task execution. The company uses real-world environmental data, which complicates collection and scaling but allows for a deeper connection between perception and action.
Currently, the startup has already released three Vision-Language-Action models to the public.
Chief Financial Officer Luo Tianqi believes that more than half of the future top 10 companies in China's embodied AI sector will emerge from the current wave of startups, despite increasing competition.
Unlike competitor Galbot, which relies on simulated data, Galaxea is developing an approach using real-world data.
