Startup Firecrawl (Y Combinator) is posting three job openings for AI agents with a total budget of $1 million. The company specializes in web scraping and is looking for a content creator, support engineer, and TypeScript/Go developer, each with a salary of $5,000 per month. Job postings are available on the YC platform, which also publishes opportunities for creators of such systems.
Y Combinator-backed startup Firecrawl is looking to hire AI agents as employees. In February, the company attempted to hire AI but failed to find a suitable candidate.
Now, three job postings on the YC platform are designated "for AI agents only," with a total budget of $1 million.
Firecrawl specializes in web scraping—collecting data from websites for large language models. This is a controversial area of AI, as uncontrolled web crawlers can overload websites, acting like DDoS attacks. However, Firecrawl aims to implement certain restrictions to make the process safer.
The company is looking for:
1. An AI content creator, who must autonomously produce high-quality SEO-optimized articles and training materials on product usage, monitor engagement metrics, and improve content. Salary: $5,000 per month.
2. An AI support engineer, who will handle customer inquiries, respond within two minutes, resolve issues independently, and escalate them to humans when necessary. Customer support experience is required. Salary: $5,000 per month.
3. An AI developer, who must prioritize tasks on GitHub, write documentation, and code in TypeScript and Go. Salary: $5,000 per month.
However, the company also wants to hire people who will build these AI agents. The budget includes payment for both the agents and their developers. Firecrawl is considering collaborating with other startups specializing in creating AI agents, such as those for customer support.
At present, the ideal "AI employee" does not yet exist. In the future, developers will manage teams of AI agents, monitor their performance, and refine the systems.
Firecrawl is not the only company posting job openings for AI agents. The YC job board is filled with offers for developers of such systems.
