Spotify launched a personal messaging feature for sharing music and podcasts

Spotify has introduced a new direct messaging feature that allows users to share their favorite songs, podcasts, and audiobooks directly within the app. The new feature is available for users over the age of 16 on mobile devices in a number of countries, including Kazakhstan.
The feature enables users to start personal chats with friends and family members they have already interacted with through Spotify. The company provides recommendations for potential contacts based on shared activities, such as joint listening sessions, participation in Blends, or the use of Family and Duo plans. Users can accept or decline message requests, block other users, or completely disable the feature in the settings. All messages are protected with modern encryption, and the platform employs technologies to detect illegal or harmful content.
"Messages" do not replace content sharing via Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, Snapchat, or TikTok, but rather complement them by allowing users to manage conversations within the app. Users can choose who to exchange messages with, block other users, or disable the feature in the settings.
With the launch of direct messaging, Spotify is taking a step toward becoming a more social platform, providing users with new opportunities for communication and sharing audio content within the app.
