SourceCraft strengthens its support for the open-source community

New opportunities have emerged on the SourceCraft platform for open-source developers: an enhanced rating system, user rewards, and a grant support program for open-source projects.

The new integrated rating system allows users to evaluate repositories on a three-point scale. The rating algorithm considers not only the number of votes for a project but also the varying degrees of repository approval.

A system of individual awards for developers has also been introduced. It automatically tracks user activity—from publishing code changes and releasing versions to code reviews and participation in discussions—and grants awards for achievements. Achievements are categorized into: "Code Work," "Community Contribution," "Tool Mastery," and "Verified Experience." All awards are visible in the developer's profile, providing insight into their individual contribution to open source. Award visualizations are generated using YandexART diffusion models.

The SourceCraft team systematically studies the needs of the open-source community: collecting feedback through a public inbox, conducting research, and analyzing usage scenarios to develop the platform in line with developers' tasks and expectations. SourceCraft now also supports a grant program for Yandex Cloud technologies for interesting and important open-source projects. Key criteria include repository activity, project relevance and practical utility, as well as a clear development roadmap.

In February 2025, Yandex Qazaqstan opened access to the SourceCraft platform for Kazakhstani developers.

SourceCraft is a platform for team collaboration and development automation that supports over 30 programming languages, includes intelligent navigation, an AI assistant, a task management system, CI/CD automation, simple static site hosting, and an API for integration with external services.
