How It All Began
I am the founder of SmartBiz and SmartBizAcademy. I became interested in BI analytics in 2021, while I was in my final year at university. After graduating, I deepened my study of BI tools and began offering services as an independent specialist—automating reporting, implementing Power BI, and organizing accounting for small and medium-sized businesses.
For two years, I worked independently, gaining practical experience and implementing projects in various sectors. Gradually, the volume of tasks increased, projects became more complex, and clients became more serious. By the end of 2023, I realized it was time to move to a new level: I registered the company SmartBiz and began assembling a team in early 2024.
This company was not conceived as a startup with a business idea—it emerged organically as the next stage of my growth and as a response to the growing demand for high-quality BI analytics and digital transformation.

The Team
When I registered the company at the end of 2023, I did not have a full team—in the first few months, only my assistant and I were working. I continued to manage projects myself while simultaneously building internal processes and recruiting staff.
In the spring of 2024, we began actively assembling the team—first an operations director and analysts joined, followed by a project manager, a finance specialist, programmers, and others. Team building happened gradually, on active projects: I transferred my tasks, immersed people in the processes, and adapted them to the specifics of our services. This was a challenging stage: it required not only delegation but also training, culture building, and explaining quality standards.
Within six months, I managed to step back from operational activities, and now every project follows a clear system with defined stages and responsibilities. By the beginning of 2025, we had established a structure with implementation, marketing, and sales departments, and began operating as a unified system. I would like to take this opportunity to thank my team for their faith and contribution to our project—you are truly awesome.

Target Audience
SmartBiz is focused on small and medium-sized businesses in Central Asia—companies that are just starting or facing difficulties with digitalization. Typically, these are businesses that operate without systematic accounting and reporting, making decisions blindly. We help them digitize processes, implement BI analytics, automate reporting, and bring order to management, creating conditions for scaling and allowing owners to escape operational routine.
Currently, we also work more with large companies that require digital transformation. We help them get rid of outdated tools and systems and develop individual solutions for digitization using modern technologies.
In the second direction—SmartBiz Academy—we train BI analysts from scratch and upskill existing specialists such as accountants, financial analysts, and CFOs.
More than 40 companies have used our services, including KICB, Novotel, Matkasymov, Ala-Too University, Etnomedia, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Culture of the Kyrgyz Republic, and others. Over 80 students have completed our training programs.
Incubation and Acceleration Programs
In 2024, we participated in the Accelerate Prosperity acceleration program and became prize winners. This gave us additional validation and helped us view the business from a scaling perspective.
Company funding initially came from project revenues and support from private short-term investors, to whom we allocated a share of profits. Now that the company is established and profitable, we have begun considering strategic equity investors who are willing to participate in the project's development on a long-term basis.

Challenges
One of the main challenges was transitioning from a specialist to a manager. Before launching the company, I had worked independently for many years, but managing people turned out to be a completely different task. Management is a separate profession that I had to learn through practice and mistakes.
There were also financial difficulties. The IT sector requires significant investment: good specialists are expensive, and scaling services is not always easy—team growth does not always immediately translate into revenue growth. In the first few months, expenses exceeded income, and we had to find solutions.
Operational challenges also arise: misunderstandings with clients, payment delays, project delays, and incompetent contractors. All of this must be navigated to build resilience.
Today, I view all of this as a necessary part of the journey. Difficulties shape the company's character. For us, there are currently no "problems"—only tasks that need to be solved, and it is precisely in solving them that growth is born.
Achievements
We started 2024 with a team of two people—myself and my assistant. By 2025, SmartBiz already employs 15 specialists, with sales, marketing, and implementation departments formed. Processes are structured, and projects are implemented systematically.
We have built a model where every employee clearly understands their role, acts according to a clear system, and yet retains flexibility and the ability to adapt quickly. This was made possible by my experience working with dozens of companies from various industries—I saw how effective processes are created and applied best practices in my own business.
In early 2025, we launched SmartBiz Academy as a separate company. In its first three months, it showed profitability and established itself well in the market for BI educational programs.
However, despite all this, there is still room to strive for more. Based on our plans, we are still at the very beginning of the journey.

Plans
In 2025, we continue to develop both directions. In SmartBiz, we are launching a line of template BI solutions that can be implemented quickly. Our goal is to handle 20–25 projects simultaneously. In SmartBiz Academy, we are steadily increasing the number of students with each cohort, improving the training program and expanding formats.
We are also preparing to enter the markets of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. This is a strategic direction that will give us scale and new segments.
Additionally, we have begun developing our own BI products with elements of artificial intelligence, which will perform functions of automatic data analysis and reporting generation. We know the market well, see business needs, and are ready to create tools that will genuinely help companies grow.
Also, in the near future, our plans include attracting long-term partner investors. We have proven our viability, built an effective company, and are now ready for the next level—international scaling.
