Roblox has introduced an AI tool for creating games from a smartphone.
Roblox Corporation announced a major update to its platform. The leadership unveiled Build — a new AI-powered mobile tool that will allow users to generate full-fledged games from text descriptions directly on their smartphone screens, and also announced new AI features for professional developers in Roblox Studio.
How Mobile Build Works
The main innovation is the new Build tab in the official Roblox mobile app. Now, creating a game world no longer requires programming or modeling skills. Users simply need to enter a text prompt.
The resulting game can be tested immediately, shared with friends, or published on the platform. The generation of mechanics, environments, characters, and sound is handled by both open-source and proprietary Roblox neural networks, trained on the platform's massive 3D data base.
Furthermore, Build operates within a unified ecosystem alongside the desktop version of Roblox Studio. Authors can start sketching a game on their phone while on the go, and later open it on a PC for complex detailing, or vice versa — run AI tasks on a computer and monitor their progress from a smartphone.
Protection Against Low-Quality Content
With the introduction of AI generation, the gaming community may have concerns about an influx of low-quality AI slop projects. Roblox developers assured that the algorithms for promoting games on the main page will not change. The system will continue to recommend only those games that people actually play and return to. Moderation will remain strict: all games created in Build will undergo the standard safety verification process before publication.
New Neural Networks for Pros
In addition to the casual mobile tool, Roblox introduced powerful updates for experienced Roblox Studio users. In the coming months, the engine will feature AI agents to which routine tasks can be delegated:
— testing agent: automatically plays through levels and finds bugs even before release
— analytical agent: allows collecting complex game statistics by communicating with the system in plain language
— experimentation agent: suggests ideas for improving player retention and monetization.
Authors also now have access to procedural models that allow changing the shape of 3D objects using sliders without manual redrawing, and the Cube model, which can turn text into interactive objects. A generator for entire 3D scenes with a single click is expected to be released soon.
Closed alpha testing for Build will begin on July 28 for users in New Zealand.
Access to the tool itself will be available to users over 9 years old with verified age. Only authors over 16 years old will be able to publish generated games to a global audience.
The basic version of the Build generator will be available absolutely free to all authors; however, expanded paid features are planned for the most active users. The global release of the tool in other regions will take place within the coming months.
