Starting from January 2022, a new subject called "Digital Literacy" will be introduced into the school curriculum for first graders in Kazakhstan.
"Today, digital literacy is becoming one of the basic skills, such as reading and writing. Therefore, it is important to teach children the basics of digital literacy, digital hygiene, and information security as early as possible. Of course, the new subject will be adapted to the age of the children," noted Gulmira Karimova, Chair of the Committee for Preschool and Secondary Education.
The revised curriculum for the subjects "Information and Communication Technologies" for the 4th grade and "Informatics" for grades 5-11 now includes the study of programming languages (Python), as well as training in 3D modeling and 3D printing.
