The Parliament of Uzbekistan has supported the launch of the international technology center Enterprise Uzbekistan.
The Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan has approved the draft Constitutional Law "On the International Center for Digital Technologies" in its first reading. The document provides for the creation of a new technology hub — Enterprise Uzbekistan, and is aimed at further preparation for the second reading.
The project envisages the launch of a special jurisdiction, within which separate working conditions will apply for IT companies, startups, and investors. Enterprise Uzbekistan will become a new entry point for international technology companies focused on the Central Asian market and neighboring regions.
According to the bill, the center plans to implement a legal environment consistent with international standards, including elements of English and Welsh common law. This should simplify business operations and make conditions more understandable for global investors and venture projects.
Simplified procedures for registration, licensing, and commercial activity will be provided for residents, as well as long-term stability of conditions — it is assumed that they will remain in effect until the year 2100.
In addition, the center will operate on the "one-stop shop" principle, allowing all necessary services, including government services, to be obtained in one place. The bill also includes measures to protect intellectual property and investments, and is aimed at reducing administrative barriers in interactions with government agencies.
It is expected that the launch of Enterprise Uzbekistan will attract foreign companies and investments to the country, as well as create more favorable conditions for launching and scaling technology projects.
Previously, it was reported that the center will develop as a global technology hub with a focus on artificial intelligence, digital transformation, R&D, startup launches, and the development of data centers.
