ŌURA launched its own AI model for personalized women's health recommendations
ŌURA, the developer of the Oura Ring smart ring, has announced the launch of its first proprietary large language model, specifically designed to support women’s health. The new model is now available for testing in the experimental Oura Labs environment and is being used within the Oura Advisor service.
The AI model is built upon clinical standards, medical research, and expert sources curated and verified by ŌURA’s in-house physicians and women’s health specialists. It also analyzes biometric signals and long-term user data to provide personalized, evidence-based recommendations.
The model covers a wide range of reproductive health topics—from early menstrual cycles to perimenopause and menopause. The company emphasizes that the solution accounts for the unique aspects of female physiology and life experiences, offering a more empathetic and context-aware approach compared to general-purpose AI models.
According to ŌURA’s Chief Medical Director, Ricky Bloomfield, the launch of its own model reflects a shift in the company’s approach to using artificial intelligence in healthcare—moving from generic solutions to specialized, clinically validated systems tailored to specific health scenarios.
The new model integrates with the existing Oura Advisor ecosystem, which already combines generative AI, health analytics algorithms, and continuous biometric tracking data. When handling queries related to women’s health, the system analyzes data on sleep, activity, stress levels, menstrual cycles, pregnancy, and other metrics, cross-referencing them with a verified medical knowledge base.
Privacy is a key focus. The AI model is fully hosted on infrastructure controlled by ŌURA, and user conversations are neither shared nor sold to third parties. Participation in testing via Oura Labs is voluntary, and users can opt out at any time.
The company notes that feedback from testing participants will be used to further develop the model and deepen understanding of processes related to women’s health—from hormonal changes to fertility and pregnancy.
ŌURA was founded in 2013 in Finland. The company’s headquarters are located in Oulu and San Francisco. The company’s latest valuation stands at approximately $11 billion, making ŌURA the most valuable independent wearable health device manufacturer.
