OpenAI has launched a new application called Codex — a workspace focused on managing AI agents and automating development. The platform allows users to run multiple agents simultaneously, distribute tasks among them, and work with long-term processes within a single interface.
Codex serves as an add-on to the CLI agent but offers an expanded set of tools and more convenient management. Users can run tasks in parallel, track agent progress, and interact with them within a single project.
Key features of the application include built-in cron jobs, which allow for automating regular processes, the ability for multiple agents to work simultaneously on the same repository, and the creation and use of custom skills directly through the interface.
OpenAI has also temporarily opened access to Codex for users on Free and Go plans. For other paid plans, the company has doubled the usage limits of the service.
Currently, the application is available only for macOS. Windows and Linux users can join the waitlist. Codex can be downloaded from the official OpenAI website.
