OpenAI released GPT-5.5 with a focus on programming and business tasks.

OpenAI has introduced GPT-5.5, a new artificial intelligence model designed for complex work tasks. The company describes it as the smartest and most intuitive version to date.

GPT-5.5 performs better in programming, internet research, data analysis, document and spreadsheet creation, and can operate across multiple tools simultaneously until a task is fully completed. The model can independently plan actions, utilize available tools, verify results, and continue working without requiring constant user input.

Special attention was given to improvements in coding. GPT-5.5 demonstrated higher performance than the previous GPT-5.4 version in several technical benchmarks, including Terminal-Bench 2.0 and software development tasks.

Despite its enhanced capabilities, the new model maintains comparable speed to GPT-5.4 and uses fewer tokens to complete similar tasks, making it more efficient.

OpenAI also announced progress in scientific and analytical tasks with GPT-5.5. The model shows improved results in bioinformatics, mathematics, financial modeling, and processing large volumes of documents.

In the initial phase, GPT-5.5 is available to users on ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise plans. The GPT-5.5 Pro version is intended for Pro, Business, and Enterprise users. The company has also opened access to the model via API for developers.
