New AMD Ryzen AI chips promise faster performance and gaming on personal computers
AMD kicked off its CES 2026 presentation in Las Vegas, declaring its intention to make artificial intelligence a part of everyday computers. AMD CEO and Chair Lisa Su emphasized that the company envisions a future where AI capabilities are accessible to every user on a personal level, regardless of tasks—from work to entertainment.
During its presentation, AMD officially announced the new Ryzen AI 400 Series processor lineup—an updated generation of chips with integrated tools to accelerate AI computations in personal computers. According to the company, these new processors deliver 1.3 times faster multitasking performance compared to previous models and 1.7 times higher productivity in content creation.
The new AI processors feature 12 compute cores and 24 threads, enabling efficient combination of traditional computing power and AI acceleration on a single chip. This architecture builds upon the Ryzen AI 300 Series, first introduced in 2024, and targets a wide range of tasks—from everyday PC usage to heavy computations involving multimedia content and gaming.
Additionally, AMD announced a new gaming-oriented processor model, the Ryzen 7 9850X3D, designed for gamers and high gaming performance combined with AI capabilities.
According to AMD representatives, these solutions are part of the company's strategy to expand the AI PC market and enable partners—laptop and desktop system manufacturers—to release smarter and more powerful machines in the first half of 2026.
