Stable mobile connectivity and internet access will be available on Kazakhstan's highways.
The Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan and JSC “TransTelecom” have signed an agreement on the construction of telecommunications infrastructure along the country’s highways. This infrastructure will provide stable mobile internet and communication on routes where coverage is currently absent or unstable.
The project is being implemented as part of the national project “Accessible Internet” and aims to eliminate so-called “white spots” — areas where telephone service and internet access are unavailable or unreliable. Thanks to the project, drivers and passengers will be able to use mobile communication while traveling for navigation, emergency calls, and access to banking and government services.
The work will be carried out in stages. It is planned that mobile communication coverage on republican roads will be completed by the end of 2026, and on regional roads — by the end of 2027. The project will cover more than 40,000 kilometers of highways.
The construction of the telecommunications network includes the erection of more than 500 antenna-mast structures and mobile communication base stations, which will significantly expand coverage and improve service quality on major transport routes.
It is expected that the implementation of the project will improve road safety, enhance the responsiveness of emergency services, and open up new opportunities for the introduction of intelligent transport management systems and road condition monitoring.
JSC “TransTelecom” is investing in the implementation of the project without attracting state funding. The built infrastructure will be available for use by all mobile operators, which will help accelerate network expansion and improve service quality for all subscribers.
