On September 26, the regional final of one of the world's largest innovation competitions — Global Startup Awards — took place in the capital of Uzbekistan. The event was held at ICTWEEK 2025 and brought together startups, investors, experts, and ecosystem representatives from Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
The GSA competition, established in 2012, unites technology entrepreneurs from more than 120 countries. Over its existence, it has received over 160,000 applications and helped dozens of successful projects enter the global market, including 16 unicorn startups with a combined valuation of over $64 billion.
The final program included keynotes, panel discussions, and investor meetings. Speakers included GSA co-founder Kim Balle and Startup Genome expert Christopher Haley, who highlighted the rapid growth of the Central Asian startup ecosystem, particularly in Tashkent.
As a result of the competition, the best regional projects were identified.
