The StartupBlink platform has published the new Global Startup Ecosystem Index 2025, according to which Kazakhstan ranked 70th in the world, moving up four positions compared to last year and surpassing Georgia. Among the countries of Central Asia, Kazakhstan retained its leadership. Uzbekistan is in 98th place, Kyrgyzstan dropped one spot to 101st place. Tajikistan and Turkmenistan did not make it into the ranking.
Kazakhstan's startup ecosystem is still in its early stages of development but has significant potential. The transition from a resource-based economy to a digital one is accompanied by state support: in Kazakhstan, technology parks, accelerators, and venture programs are being created, as well as initiatives such as Astana Hub and the "Business Roadmap 2025".
Among the key sectors:
— Software & Data, 63rd place in the world
— FinTech, 73rd place in the world
— EdTech, 68th place in the world.
In 2025, significant growth was recorded in the Software & Data segment.
Kazakhstan also shows progress in attracting investments: from 2023 to 2024, the volume of venture funding increased by 52.28%, reaching $26.97 million, despite a decrease in the number of deals by 63.16%. Since 2017, the country's startups have collectively attracted more than $81.9 million.
Among the top cities in terms of the quantity and quality of startups, Astana leads with a 315th place in the world, +21 positions, and Almaty with a 353rd place, +63 positions.
Among the most notable Kazakh startups: Solva, Kaspi.kz, 1FIT, TrustMe, Fabula, Clockster, OGames, and Naimi.kz.
According to StartupBlink, Kazakhstan has the potential to become a full-fledged regional hub for technological innovations. This is facilitated by the country's participation in international initiatives, such as digital public goods from UNICEF, as well as hosting forums like Digital Bridge.
