On July 29, 2025, JSC "National Company 'Kazakhstan Space Travel'" and the Nigerian company Suburban Broadband Limited signed an investment agreement for the development and implementation of a high-resolution Earth remote sensing space system. The document provides for the export of the Kazakh satellite system and the development of comprehensive partnership involving digital solutions, specialist training, and technical support.
The signing ceremony took place in the State of Qatar with the assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as with the support of the Business Council "Nigeria — Kazakhstan".
The signed agreement is aimed at developing a high-tech satellite platform capable of rapid and highly accurate observation of the Earth's surface. It is expected that the system will be effectively used for monitoring natural resources, environmental protection, agricultural needs, urban planning, and ensuring national security.
The foundations of bilateral cooperation were laid during the first official visit of the Kazakh delegation to the Federal Republic of Nigeria in February 2025, during which preliminary negotiations on the prospects of interaction in the space sector were held. Subsequently, JSC "NC 'Kazakhstan Space Travel'" signed a memorandum of cooperation with Suburban Broadband Limited within the framework of the Kazakhstan-Nigeria Business Conference in Abuja. The agreement with the Federal Republic of Nigeria is considered the third international investment project of Kazakhstan in the field of satellite technologies. Previously, Kazakhstan concluded export agreements with Mongolia and the Republic of Congo. Thus, Nigeria has joined the international satellite group being formed by Kazakhstan, laying a solid foundation for expanded cooperation in the field of data exchange, analytics, and innovative developments in the space industry.
