Elon Musk unveiled Grok 4 and launched the most expensive AI subscription at $300 per month

xAI, founded by Elon Musk, has unveiled its new flagship artificial intelligence model, Grok 4, and launched the SuperGrok Heavy subscription at $300 per month—the most expensive among all major AI platforms.

Grok serves as an alternative to OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Gemini. The model can analyze images and answer questions. Over the past few months, Grok has become more deeply integrated into the social network X, which xAI recently acquired. However, this has also resulted in millions of users witnessing incorrect AI behavior.

Musk described Grok 4 as "the most powerful AI model in the world," claiming it "exceeds PhD-level performance across all academic subjects—without exception." Alongside the standard version, xAI introduced Grok 4 Heavy, a "multi-agent model" where multiple AIs simultaneously solve a problem and then compare results, similar to a study group.

Grok 4 demonstrated strong performance in various tests, including the challenging Humanity’s Last Exam covering mathematics, humanities, and natural sciences. Without additional tools, Grok 4 scored 25.4%, outperforming Gemini 2.5 Pro and OpenAI's o3. The Grok 4 Heavy version with tools achieved an even better result—44.4% compared to Gemini's 26.9% with similar capabilities.

The SuperGrok Heavy subscription at $300 per month provides early access to Grok 4 Heavy and new features. xAI also announced the launch of three new products: a coding model in August, a multimodal agent in September, and a video generator in October.
