Garmin has introduced the new Cirqa Smart Band, a screenless fitness tracker priced at $200. The device enters the rapidly growing market of screen-based fitness bands, where one of the key players is Whoop, a company valued at approximately $10 billion.
The Cirqa can be worn on either the wrist or the forearm. The band tracks key health and physical activity metrics, including sleep quality, stress levels, heart rate variability, skin temperature, blood oxygen levels, and maximum oxygen consumption (VO2 max).
Users can manually start workouts for more than 80 types of activities, as well as use the automatic exercise detection feature.
Based on the collected data, the device calculates the Body Battery score, which assesses the body's recovery level and energy reserves. According to Garmin, the band lasts up to 10 days on a single charge.
A major advantage of the Cirqa is the absence of a mandatory subscription. Unlike Whoop, where users pay a monthly membership fee to access the service, Garmin offers the full suite of features without recurring payments. This approach may attract users who wish to avoid additional expenses after purchasing the device.
