Uzbekistan’s Minister of Digital Technologies, Sherzod Shermatov, held a working meeting with the leadership of the global educational platform Coursera during his visit to the United States. The main topic of the meeting was the expansion of cooperation in the field of digital education, certification according to international standards, and providing access to global educational resources for students and professionals in the country.
During the negotiations, the parties agreed on the creation of a national IT education rating system, improvement of certification procedures, and strengthening of Uzbekistan's digital educational ecosystem. Special attention was given to translating 3,000 Coursera courses into the Uzbek language, which will allow a wide audience to access high-quality international educational materials.
According to Coursera, there are already more than 1.5 million users of the platform in Uzbekistan. The implementation of new initiatives aims to reduce the language barrier, improve the qualifications of students and specialists, and integrate the educational process with labor market needs.
Cooperation with Coursera provides access to programs from the world's leading universities and corporations, including Google, AWS, Meta, and Microsoft, which will expand opportunities for professional training and the development of digital skills in the country.
It is expected that the implementation of these initiatives will significantly improve the quality of IT education, create new opportunities for students, teachers, and specialists, and strengthen Uzbekistan's position as a center for digital learning in the region.
