The Azerbaijani investment holding plans to invest $270 million in Israel
The Azerbaijani Investment Holding (AIH) plans to invest up to $270 million in Israel, considering the purchase of a 30% stake in IDE Technologies, a leading Israeli company specializing in water desalination and water technologies. AIH is currently conducting a comprehensive due diligence process ahead of a potential deal.
IDE Technologies is considered the largest water desalination company in Israel and one of the leading ones worldwide. It has built almost all major seawater-to-freshwater conversion plants, and its assets, including the Hadera and Sorek 2 facilities, supply a significant portion of the country's desalinated water needs.
If the investment is confirmed, it will become Azerbaijan's second major state-backed investment deal in Israel. Earlier in 2025, the state-owned company SOCAR acquired a 10% stake in the Tamar gas field for $1.25 billion.
The deal also reflects the deepening economic cooperation between the two countries: according to statistics, Israel has become one of the main destinations for Azerbaijani direct investments in recent years.
