Azerbaijan and Japan are expanding cooperation in the field of AI and digital technologies

Azerbaijan and Japan are exploring opportunities to expand cooperation in the field of information and communication technologies (ICT), artificial intelligence, and digital transformation. Representatives of the relevant agencies of both countries discussed interaction issues at a meeting in Baku on October 9, 2026.

Samaddin Asadov, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan, met with Hideo Fusada, Deputy Minister for Policy Coordination and International Affairs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan.

The parties considered opportunities for exchanging experience in the fields of artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and innovation, as well as the implementation of joint projects.

Special attention was given by the meeting participants to finalizing the preparation of an action plan for cooperation in the areas of ICT and postal services. In addition, they exchanged views on Azerbaijan's participation in the Hiroshima Process on Artificial Intelligence and the use of information and communication technologies for the prevention and management of the consequences of natural disasters.
