Astana has entered the top 50 smart cities in the world, surpassing Lisbon and Moscow.
Astana ranked 46th in the global Smart Centres Index 2025, rising six positions compared to the previous year. The capital of Kazakhstan entered the top 50 smart cities in the world, surpassing Prague, Warsaw, Budapest, Lisbon, Moscow, and a number of other megacities.
San Francisco led the ranking, followed by Zurich and London. Oxford took fourth place, and New York rounded out the top five.
According to the International Financial Center "Astana," the rise in the city's position is due to the development of digital infrastructure and the implementation of the Smart City Astana platform in collaboration with the G42 holding. The platform enables real-time forecasting of load on urban networks, improving transportation management, and enhancing public safety levels.
