Armenia is investing $2.6 million in Firebird AI computing power.
The Government of Armenia has approved the allocation of 957.8 million drams, or approximately $2.6 million, for the purchase of high-performance computing resources from Firebird AI.
The funds will be directed toward the implementation of a five-year agreement between the Ministry of High-Tech Industry of Armenia and Firebird AI, valued at $25 million, signed in April 2026.
Financing will be provided from the state program supporting IT companies and individual entrepreneurs. The computing resources are planned to be made available to government agencies, universities, research centers, startups, and scientific groups for the development and implementation of artificial intelligence technologies.
The agreement is related to the construction of a data center for AI systems in the city of Razdan. The project is being implemented by Firebird AI using NVIDIA technologies.
Previously, the Government of Armenia, NVIDIA, Firebird, and Team Group announced the launch of a project to create a supercomputer and an AI data center. The first phase includes investments of $500 million and the construction of a data center with a capacity of over 100 MW, equipped with thousands of NVIDIA Blackwell graphics processing units. The launch of the facility is scheduled for 2026. Firebird AI will own the data center, and Dell will be the project partner.
The second phase of the project is valued at $4 billion and involves expanding the infrastructure by installing up to 41,000 NVIDIA graphics processing units. The new capacity is expected to be used for the development of artificial intelligence, biological sciences, robotics, and space research. The project is being implemented with the support of the governments of Armenia and the United States.
