Apple may introduce Siri based on Gemini as early as February
Apple plans to introduce an updated version of its voice assistant Siri, powered by Google’s Gemini artificial intelligence models, in the second half of February.
This will mark the first major outcome of the recently announced partnership between Apple and Google in the field of artificial intelligence. The new version of Siri is expected to fulfill the promises Apple made in June 2024, including the ability to perform tasks using users’ personal data and information from the device’s screen.
The February update will serve as an intermediate step ahead of a more comprehensive upgrade that Apple plans to unveil in June at the Worldwide Developers Conference. The next version of Siri is expected to be more conversational, capable of engaging in dialogue similar to modern chatbots like ChatGPT. It is also anticipated that the assistant may operate on Google’s cloud infrastructure.
