Abdulkhadj Kuchkarov, CEO of IT Park Uzbekistan, held a meeting with Joe Kirges, co-founder of the American accelerator Gener8tor. During the negotiations, the parties discussed issues related to the development of the startup ecosystem, innovation, and entrepreneurship, as well as the launch of joint programs to support founders in the regions of Uzbekistan.
Gener8tor is one of the leading startup accelerators in the United States, founded in 2012 in Madison. The organization collaborates with universities, corporations, and government entities, helping to develop innovative ecosystems worldwide. Today, Gener8tor operates in more than 46 communities and five countries, having supported over 1,600 startups that have collectively attracted more than $2.9 billion in investments and created over 12,000 jobs.
During the meeting, representatives of IT Park Uzbekistan and Gener8tor discussed the prospects of opening a regional office for Gener8tor in Uzbekistan, which is planned to be granted the status of an IT Park Uzbekistan resident. This will enable startups across the country to access structured acceleration programs, entrepreneurial training, and international growth opportunities.
The parties also agreed to launch the gALPHA and gBETA programs in Uzbekistan. These initiatives aim to support students and early-stage founders who are at the initial stages of developing their ideas — from concept formation to pre-seed funding. The programs will be implemented at incubation centers affiliated with regional universities and IT Park Uzbekistan startup studios, allowing youth from various regions of the country to engage in innovative entrepreneurship.
Additionally, a Training of Trainers program will be implemented — a course for training and certifying local trainers capable of conducting acceleration and educational programs according to Gener8tor standards. This will help form a pool of qualified mentors and create a sustainable infrastructure for startup support in the regions.
The signing of the memorandum with Gener8tor will be an important step in the development of the country's startup ecosystem and will strengthen Uzbekistan's position as a regional innovation hub. The new partnership will also allow local startups to access international investors, expert support, and educational opportunities, as well as benefit from the status of an IT Park Uzbekistan resident when opening their own offices.
It is expected that the joint programs will improve the quality of entrepreneurial education, expand startups' access to investments, and accelerate the process of digital transformation of the country's economy.
