The international analytics agency IDC has rated the digital maturity of Almaty at 2.7 out of 5 points. By this indicator, the city is among the top in the CIS and Eastern Europe, trailing behind Moscow (3–4 points). The international analytical agency International Data Corporation (IDC) assessed Almaty's digital maturity at 2.7 out of 5 points. By this indicator, the city is in the top of the CIS and Eastern Europe, while Moscow leads the rating with a score between 3 and 4 points. Singapore is closest to the 5-point mark.

IDC's methodology includes 19 criteria across five dimensions: vision, culture, processes, technology, and data. Meanwhile, Almaty's head of digitalization, Konirbaev, stated that the city has already surpassed the "Smart City" program.
