Three startups from Kazakhstan have advanced to one of the most prestigious accelerators — StartX at Stanford University
Kazakhstani startups Brain Patch, Defect AI, and TrustMe have become participants in the Spring 2026 batch of StartX, one of the most selective and prestigious accelerators affiliated with Stanford University. They were selected for the program thanks to a Platinum Agreement between StartX and Astana Business Campus, which is part of the NU Impact Foundation ecosystem.
StartX is considered one of the most rigorous accelerators in the world and does not invest directly; however, its participation is viewed by the venture market as a strong institutional signal of quality. The accelerator conducts in-depth due diligence on teams and technologies, reducing risks for early-stage funds. Over its history, StartX has produced three decacorns and more than 20 unicorns, with the combined valuation of participating companies exceeding $120 billion.
Defect AI is developing an AI platform for the automated verification of medical records. The solution helps reduce errors and operational costs in clinics, which is one of the most capital-intensive segments of healthtech. The startup is focused on global scaling, including the US market. In 2025, the project won the Social Startup program and received a grant of up to 10 million tenge from NU Impact Foundation.
Brain Patch operates in the consumer neurotech segment and is developing a wellness device for stress management and recovery. The product combines central nervous system stimulation with audio tracks, targeting the vagus nerve to help users transition into a state of calm. According to the team, this contributes to lowering stress hormone levels and improving concentration and energy.
TrustMe is creating a platform to enhance trust in the digital environment. It enables the execution of legally binding contracts in seconds using SMS, messengers, and biometric verification. Documents are encrypted and stored on the blockchain, eliminating the possibility of forgery.
In the classic model, only Stanford University alumni can participate in StartX. However, thanks to the partnership between StartX and Astana Business Campus, Kazakhstani startups have gained access to acceleration, international venture funds, corporate partners, and the global Stanford alumni network. To date, 12 Kazakhstani startups have already gone through this program.
Previously, under the same initiative, projects Parqour, Aidentis, and TrustExam.ai were successfully selected for StartX, chosen from more than 240 applications. The Astana Business Campus team acts as the regional partner of StartX, providing startups with mentoring, analytical, and organizational support during the preparation phase for acceleration.
NU Impact Foundation develops the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem at Nazarbayev University, supporting technological startups, fostering international partnerships, and integrating Kazakhstan into the global market.
