Zeekr has introduced its new plug-in hybrid SUV, the 9X, which will become the brand's flagship model. The presentation took place in Chengdu, where pre-orders for the vehicle will soon begin.
The model is built on a new modular platform and features a hybrid powertrain with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine producing 205 kilowatts and a thermal efficiency of over 46%. This engine operates more efficiently than most 1.5-liter hybrid engines.
Additionally, the SUV is equipped with three electric motors delivering a combined output of over 1,000 kilowatts. As a result, the Zeekr 9X accelerates from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just over three seconds, with a top speed of 240 kilometers per hour. At low battery levels, the acceleration difference does not exceed two-tenths of a second.
The vehicle is impressively large, with a length exceeding 5.5 meters, a width of over 2 meters, a height of approximately 1.8 meters, and a wheelbase of nearly 3.5 meters. The SUV features a large integrated grille, a massive hood, forged mirror-finish wheels with a diameter of 22 inches, and spacious rear doors wider than one meter.
The Zeekr 9X is equipped with CATL Freevoy batteries in two capacity options. The version with the larger battery has a capacity of 70 kilowatt-hours, making it the largest among hybrid passenger cars on the market. It allows for an electric range of up to 302 kilometers. The battery supports ultra-fast charging, enabling a charge from 20% to 80% in just nine minutes.
The car is equipped with modern safety and driver assistance systems, including Level 3 autonomous driving technology. This is achieved through powerful Thor processors and five LiDAR sensors, providing a total computing power of 1,400 TOPS, which is considered one of the best in the industry.
The SUV's suspension features closed double air springs and CCD valves. It provides a suspension travel of up to 110 millimeters and a ground clearance of 288 millimeters. This allows the vehicle to handle off-road conditions confidently, including deep snow and climbs with gradients up to 70%.
Pre-orders for the Zeekr 9X will begin in late August 2025 at the Chengdu Auto Show, with the vehicle going on sale in the third quarter of this year.
