On the sidelines of the Tashkent International Investment Forum TIIF 2026, an agreement was signed between the American company Amazon Kuiper and the Uzbek operator UZ-SAT to provide high-speed satellite internet across Uzbekistan.
Amazon Kuiper, Amazon's satellite network, is officially entering the Uzbek market. The agreement with UZ-SAT opens access to high-speed internet not only in cities but also in remote and hard-to-reach areas of the country where telecommunications infrastructure is limited or entirely absent. For Uzbekistan, where a significant portion of the population lives outside major cities, this is a crucial step.
Amazon Kuiper consists of a constellation of more than 3,000 satellites in low Earth orbit, interconnected via high-speed optical links. The system is integrated with ground gateway stations, fiber-optic networks, and internet access points worldwide. Users connect using compact antennas of three classes: Kuiper Nano, Kuiper Pro, and Kuiper Ultra, each designed for different use cases ranging from basic home connections to corporate applications requiring maximum performance.
The country is actively pursuing digital transformation, yet uneven coverage remains one of the main barriers. Satellite internet from Amazon Kuiper can help bridge this gap, particularly for rural areas, mountainous regions, and small settlements where laying fiber-optic cables is economically unfeasible. The agreement was signed within the framework of TIIF 2026, Central Asia's largest investment platform, underscoring the strategic importance of the deal for the country's digital development.
