The Tashkent Center for Radio Electronic Systems and Information Technologies has been transformed into the Institute of Cryptology, Information Security, and Innovative Technologies — a new structure established on the basis of the Muhammad al-Khwarizmi Tashkent University of Information Technologies.
The institute has been granted the status of the leading state university in the country in the fields of cryptology, information protection, and cybersecurity — it will now oversee the activities of other educational institutions of this profile. Among the institution's tasks are the training and retraining of personnel in cybersecurity, cryptology, artificial intelligence, big data, and digital forensics, as well as scientific research and the development of national standards in the field of information protection.
The institute has been entrusted with the production, certification, and implementation of technical and cryptographic information protection tools for limited use — with the consent of the authorized state body. Specialists of the structure will verify state information systems and critical infrastructure objects for compliance with security requirements. A separate scientific and technical council under the institute will handle the expertise of scientific and innovative projects.
A non-budgetary Development Fund will also be established under the institute — its funds will be directed toward strengthening the material and technical base, financing scientific projects, and incentivizing employees. The fund will be formed from income generated through certification, sales of developments, and sponsorship contributions.
