In Kazakhstan, the national AI Governance Cup award was launched.

The Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, together with the Agency for Civil Service Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, announced the launch of the first national AI Governance Cup award. The initiative aims to develop the practice of applying artificial intelligence and its systematic implementation in the activities of state, quasi-state bodies, and local executive structures.

The Head of State declared 2026 the Year of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence, emphasizing the importance of actively using AI to improve the efficiency of public administration. One of the priority tasks of digital transformation is the introduction of innovative technologies into decision-making processes, the provision of public services, and data management. The AI Governance Cup award is designed as a practical tool for achieving these goals — it will encourage projects that demonstrate measurable results and real benefits for society.

The award is conducted on a competitive basis. Applications for participation are accepted from March 3 to March 13, 2026, through the official contest website. Participation is open to state bodies, quasi-state organizations, and local executive authorities working on AI initiatives.

The contest includes six key categories:

— "AI For Citizens" — projects improving the quality of public services for citizens
— "AI Economy" — AI solutions in the economic sector
— "AI Social Policy" — initiatives in the field of social policy
— "AI Security" — projects in the security sector
— "AI Regions" — regional AI projects implemented by local executive authorities
— "AI Quasi-Sector" — solutions implemented in quasi-state organizations.

Organizers note that the AI Governance Cup is intended not only to identify best practices but also to stimulate the exchange of experience between government structures, promote practice-oriented solutions based on data and modern digital technologies. Participation in the contest will allow participants not only to gain recognition but also to draw attention to successful AI initiatives at the national level.
