In Kazakhstan, the first AI university is launching — QAZAQ AI Research University
A new generation university has been unveiled in Astana — Qazaq AI Research University, positioned as the first AI-enabled university in Central Asia.
The educational model of QAIRU is built around artificial intelligence: AI is integrated into the learning process, shapes individual learning pathways, and supports students at all stages through digital assistants.
The bachelor’s program is designed for three years and focuses on intensive, practice-oriented education with an emphasis on project-based work and industry-relevant skills. Instruction will be conducted in English.
A key feature of the university is its 24/7 AI-tutor system, which assists students in their studies, assignment completion, and the development of personalized educational pathways. Hybrid learning formats are also offered — offline, online, and AI-assisted learning.
According to the developers, graduates will complete their studies with a ready-made AI product in their portfolio.
The university is located on the EXPO grounds in Astana and is integrated into Kazakhstan’s national AI ecosystem, including access to Alem.cloud, supercomputing infrastructure, and research platforms.
QAIRU also announced the launch of three research laboratories: the Quantum AI Lab, the Robotics and Intelligent Systems Lab, and the AI Health Lab.
International partners include Mohamed bin Zayed University of AI, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Carnegie Mellon University, and other scientific and industrial organizations.
Document submission for the 2026 academic year will take place from June 20 to August 25. Selection is based on NIS results and entrance procedures.
Applications can be submitted through the eGovernment portal eGov and the educational platform OQU.
