In Kazakhstan, the National Institute for Development in the Field of Information Security has been established. It is part of the Digital Government Support Center under the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development.
The Institute's main tasks include participating in the implementation of state policy in the field of information security, developing standardization documents, conducting scientific and technical activities, performing project expertise, as well as training and upgrading the qualifications of specialized professionals.
In the context of the rapid development of artificial intelligence, cloud technologies, and the growing number of cyber threats, the importance of a scientific approach to data protection and the security of critical infrastructure is increasing. The Institute will focus on fundamental and applied research, modeling modern cyber threats, digital forensics, developing solution prototypes, creating cyber ranges, and forming a national knowledge base in the field of information security.
A separate area of work involves studying the evolution and methodology of modern cyberattacks: from analyzing historical threat models to investigating new scenarios related to the use of artificial intelligence, cloud technologies, and automated hacking tools. This work will enable the forecasting of new threats and the development of scientifically grounded approaches to protecting state information systems and critical infrastructure.
One of the Institute's first international projects was the organization of the 2nd IEEE International Conference on Cybersecurity, Digital Forensics and AI Applications (ICCSDFAI 2026). The conference will take place from June 25 to 27 in Istanbul, hosted by Istinye University. The organizer is the Digital Government Support Center, in collaboration with an international consortium consisting of 11 universities, government agencies, and technology companies. Conference materials will be published and indexed in the international IEEE database, ensuring their dissemination within the global scientific community.
Participation in a conference of this level holds not only scientific but also strategic significance for Kazakhstan: it integrates national research into the global cybersecurity agenda and fosters sustainable partnerships that will continue to operate after the event concludes.
Among the partners and co-organizers were leading technology companies and organizations, including Palo Alto Networks, Amazon Web Services (AWS), ASELSAN, TI-Lab, FerroTechnics Canada, and other international entities in the field of digital security and innovation.
The conference program also included plenary sessions with international experts, specialized workshops, technological competitions such as CTF and Hackathon, B2B meetings, an exhibition of technological solutions, and events for professional knowledge exchange.
