In Kazakhstan, a digital assets platform is being launched based on KASE.
Kazakhstan is undergoing a large-scale transformation of its financial system, encompassing both the payment infrastructure and the capital market.
The National Payment Corporation of Kazakhstan has presented its development strategy for the national payment infrastructure for the next five years. During the previous cycle, the system grew more than 10-fold: from fewer than 50 to over 600 participants. The daily transaction volume reached approximately 6 million transactions totaling around 6 trillion tenge.
In the new strategic cycle, key areas include the development of instant payments, Open API and Open Banking, the implementation of artificial intelligence and automation, strengthening anti-fraud systems, expanding digital identification, as well as the development of BaaS and B2B payments. Among prospective solutions under consideration are agent payments, biometric interfaces, and round-the-clock settlement systems.
Simultaneously, the National Bank of Kazakhstan and KASE are developing the infrastructure for digital assets. The exchange hosts the first licensed platform for the tokenization and trading of digital assets, and a pilot issuance of short-term bonds by the National Bank in tokenized form has been launched.
The stock exchange is becoming a key platform for implementing tokenization due to its mature infrastructure and the trust of institutional participants. The pilot issuance will allow testing the circulation of state financial instruments in digital format.
Kazakhstan is simultaneously developing next-generation payment infrastructure and a digital capital market, forming a unified future financial ecosystem based on AI, tokenization, and open APIs.
