The Future Industries Zone officially opened in Hong Kong as part of the autumn Hong Kong Electronics Fair. The new zone brought together more than 100 exhibitors showcasing innovations in five key areas: computing technologies, manufacturing, marine and quantum technologies, microelectronics, and health technologies.
The event was organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and the Hong Kong Electronics Industry Association (HKEIA), with support from the Innovation, Technology and Industry Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government. Among the participants were Lenovo, AV Concept, and GP Energy Tech.
The Future Industries Zone was created not only to showcase innovations but also to facilitate partnerships and attract investors. The platform connects technology companies, researchers, manufacturers, startups, and buyers, helping participants bring new solutions to market.

“This is a platform for attracting investment, developing partnerships, and exchanging knowledge,” said HKTDC Executive Director Sophia Chong at the opening ceremony.
According to her, the electronics industry is shifting from traditional consumer electronics to products incorporating artificial intelligence and smart technologies. The new zone reflects these changes and helps participants turn ideas into commercial opportunities.
HKEIA Chairman Paul So emphasized that the mission of the Future Industries Zone is to help companies accelerate the commercialization of their innovations and identify growth opportunities in regional and international markets. Bringing together representatives from science and business on a single platform aims to foster collaboration, investment, and industrial application of technologies.
Kevin Choy, Permanent Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, noted that scientific discovery is only the beginning of the journey. To bring an innovation to market, it must be transformed into a product, tested in real-world conditions, and manufactured at scale. The Future Industries Zone is designed to bridge these stages by connecting developers with manufacturers, end-users, and investors.

The zone will be open from October 13 to 16 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) as part of the 46th Hong Kong Electronics Fair. Simultaneously, electronicAsia is taking place at the same venue. Together, the two exhibitions have gathered more than 3,200 exhibitors from 15 countries and regions.
Entry is free upon prior registration.
