A regional center of excellence in AI for Central Asia and the Middle East will open in Baku.
Azerbaijan will host a regional Center of Excellence in artificial intelligence. It will be established in Baku under a memorandum of cooperation signed between the Agency of Innovations and Digital Development of Azerbaijan and the AI startup Polygraf AI.
The center will serve as a regional hub for developing engineering solutions, creating AI products, and implementing technological solutions for countries in Central Asia and the Middle East. A local team of specialists in technology, engineering, and cybersecurity will also be formed.
The partnership aims to develop Azerbaijan's innovative ecosystem, promote the safe and responsible use of artificial intelligence, train local specialists, and support technology companies with global potential. The initiative aligns with the goals of Azerbaijan's Artificial Intelligence Strategy for 2025–2028 and the plan to accelerate digital development for 2026–2028.
The parties also plan to launch educational programs, internships, masterclasses, and research projects in collaboration with technology parks, universities, and the Azerbaijan Innovation Center. Additionally, the memorandum includes cooperation in the areas of AI security, data protection, deepfake detection, and the commercialization of Azerbaijani digital products in international markets, including African countries.
