At Google I/O 2025, AI tools were unveiled: chat-based search, the AI Ultra plan at $250/month, and Gemini in Chrome starting May 21. Beam for real-time translation in Google Meet, Imagen 4, Veo 3, and Flow generators, as well as Project Aura glasses on Android XR, were introduced. Updates also include smart replies in Gmail, virtual shopping via Gemini, and automatic password changes in Chrome.
Google I/O 2025 — a major event from Google, where the company presents its latest technological achievements: from Android updates and new Pixel series devices to powerful developments in the field of artificial intelligence. Special attention this year was paid to AI, including the advanced Gemini 2.5 model, intelligent search features, as well as new solutions for developers.
This is not just a presentation — it is a demonstration of the technological future that Google is actively bringing closer to all of us. This year, Google focused entirely on artificial intelligence.
AI Mode in Google Search
Search now has a separate tab where it works like a real chatbot based on Gemini. This completely changes the approach to search: now you can not just enter keywords, but engage in a full-fledged dialogue. Google is moving towards conversational search, competing with traditional search engines.
Interesting statistics were presented at the conference: currently, users formulate their queries two to three times longer than before — and AI handles this much more accurately and quickly. Although the mode currently works only in the US, hints on stage suggested that a global launch is only a matter of time.
AI Ultra — Advanced AI for $250
Google introduced a new AI Ultra plan — $250 per month, and for this same amount, users get access to the most powerful Gemini models, priority access to new features, and increased limits. For example, Gemini in Chrome and Project Mariner are already available. This is for those who want the maximum from AI tools.
Real-time translation in Google Meet
Google introduced Beam, which combines 3D video calls and real-time speech translation in Google Meet. A device with six cameras and a light field display creates a realistic image of the interlocutor, while built-in AI translates speech, preserving intonation and facial expressions. Currently, translation from English to Spanish is supported, with plans to expand languages in the future.
Gemini in Chrome
Starting May 21, AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers can use Gemini directly in the Chrome browser. The AI can immediately summarize, explain, and suggest actions. It currently works in two tabs, but Google has promised to expand functionality.
Imagen 4, Veo 3, and Flow — Video and Image Generation
New Imagen 4 and Veo 3 models have improved image and video generation. The coolest feature is the Flow app. With it, you can create a full-fledged eight-second short film simply by description. Editing, effects, style — all through commands.
Project Aura Smart Glasses
The glasses look like ordinary sunglasses, but inside they have cameras, microphones, built-in Gemini, and mixed reality features. The Project Aura smart glasses prototype runs on the Android XR platform from Xreal.
Project Astra — Proactive Assistant
Project Astra is no longer just an assistant. The system itself "understands" the environment through the camera and can suggest what might be wrong with homework or what you are holding in your hand.
Search Live and Gemini Live
Now you can simply point the camera and speak — the Search Live feature will allow visual and voice search simultaneously. And Gemini Live has learned to share screens on iOS and Android — and it is free.
Stitch — AI for Interfaces
Google also showcased the Stitch tool, which creates app interfaces based on sketches and descriptions.
Smart Replies in Gmail
This is great news for teachers, students, business people — for everyone who frequently works with email. When dealing with 20–30 emails a day, such features save a lot of time and eliminate routine.
Now responses are selected not just based on templates, but on your correspondence and documents from Google Drive. That is, if you need to send a spreadsheet to your boss — the AI will automatically select the necessary file and formulate a polite response.
Virtual Shopping
Google is testing virtual clothing try-ons and has added the ability to make purchases through the Gemini chatbot. The AI can even track prices and notify you when there is a discount.
Protection in Chrome
Chrome will now be able to automatically change compromised passwords on supported sites. Everything is automatic — you just confirm.
