Registration for the international AI Olympiad FAIO 2026 will last until September 19

An international artificial intelligence olympiad, FAIO 2026, will be held in Kazakhstan for school students. Participants will solve problems in machine learning, programming, and mathematics in teams of one to three people.

The preliminary round will take place online on September 20 from 12:00 to 16:00 Kazakhstan time. Participants will not need to join a video call. Based on the results of the preliminary round, the best teams will receive invitations to the final in Almaty.

The final round will be held on October 27–28 at the NSPM school. Participants from other cities and countries are scheduled to arrive on October 26, and on October 29, the organizers will conduct a tour of Almaty and a closing ceremony.

Participation in the olympiad is free. The organizers note that experience in machine learning is not required: the tasks include the necessary theory, and some points can be earned through logic and basic knowledge.

Registration is open until September 19, 18:00 Kazakhstan time on the official FAIO website.

In 2025, the preliminary round of the olympiad gathered about 1,200 school students from 50 cities and 12 countries. Representatives from seven countries participated in the final.
