PGL Astana 2026: Everything About Kazakhstan's Premier CS2 Tournament

The International PGL Astana 2026 Counter-Strike 2 esports tournament will once again take place in the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana. Organizer PGL Esports has officially confirmed the dates, format, and prize pool of the competition, which promises to be one of the largest CS2 events of the season.

This article provides a detailed preview: when the tournament will take place, where to buy tickets, which teams will attend, and what happened at PGL Astana in 2025. Sources include the official website of PGL Esports and materials from the previous tournament.

When and where PGL Astana 2026 will take place

PGL Astana 2026 will run from May 7 to May 17: the playoffs will be held from May 15 to May 17 at the Barys Arena — the same venue that hosted the previous tournament. The event will span two weeks of intense competition, including the group stage, playoffs, and finals in front of a live audience.

The official PGL Esports page confirms that the tournament's final matches will be broadcast with live commentary, and the arena will serve as the center of competition in Central Asia.

Format and prize pool

The organizers have increased the prize pool to $1.6 million — $350,000 more than in 2025. The distribution of funds among teams is detailed in the announcement:

— 1st place — $512,000
— 2nd place — $240,000
— 3rd place — $192,000
— 4th place — $112,000
— 5th–8th places — $80,000
— 9th–11th places — $40,000
— 12th–14th places — $24,000
— 15th–16th places — $16,000

The tournament format will retain 16 teams. Twelve of them will receive direct invitations based on the Valve Regional Standings, while four will qualify through regional qualifiers. Invites will be distributed closer to the tournament, in March 2026.

Which teams will attend and what to expect

The full list of participants has not yet been officially published, but the tournament is expected to gather the strongest teams from the CS2 scene.

Participation in the 2025 season confirmed the interest of top organizations: for example, teams such as Team Spirit, Astralis, G2 Esports, Natus Vincere, FURIA, Ninjas in Pyjamas, Virtus.pro, and others competed at PGL Astana 2025.

Last year, Team Spirit demonstrated a high level of play, winning the final against Astralis with a score of 3–1 and attracting hundreds of thousands of online viewers. The return of such prominent names and potentially new teams makes Astana 2026 a particularly interesting event for CS2 fans.

Where to buy tickets

Tickets are already available on the Ticketon.kz website.

It is important to purchase tickets through verified platforms — cases of fraud during resale have been recorded at previous tournaments.
