On October 1, a Kyrgyz satellite was launched into orbit by a SpaceX rocket from Vandenberg Air Force Base. Previously, President Sadyr Japarov visited the company's facility in Hawthorne, where he studied production technologies and the flight control center. In Kyrgyzstan, a pilot project for Starlink services has been launched since May 2026, with more than 10,000 satellites already in orbit.
The first national satellite of the Kyrgyz Republic was launched into orbit on October 1 from the Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. The launch was carried out using a SpaceX rocket.
The day before the launch, on September 30, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov visited the SpaceX manufacturing complex in Hawthorne, California, as part of his working trip to the United States.
SpaceX is one of the world leaders in the space industry and ranks among the most valuable technology companies globally. The company develops and manufactures launch vehicles, spacecraft, and satellites, conducts crewed missions, and is developing the global Starlink satellite internet system.
The head of state toured the production facilities where spacecraft assembly takes place. The President was shown rocket stages at various stages of readiness and was briefed on modern materials, engineering solutions, and quality control technologies.
Special attention was given to the reusability of rocket stages, which helps reduce the cost of launching payloads into orbit and increases launch frequency. Company representatives explained how operations are organized, from designing and manufacturing individual components to assembly and preparing equipment for testing.
President Sadyr Japarov also visited the flight control center, where he learned about the support of space missions and monitoring of onboard systems. The head of state was shown SpaceX spacesuits and briefed on astronaut safety technologies.
A separate part of the visit focused on the Starlink system. The President was shown three generations of satellites, and was informed about changes in their design and increased bandwidth. The system began deployment in 2019, and more than 10,000 Starlink satellites are currently in orbit.
In May 2026, Starlink satellite internet services began being provided in Kyrgyzstan as part of a pilot project. This technology opens up additional opportunities for connecting remote and high-altitude settlements to high-speed internet, educational resources, and state digital services.
