OpenAI has updated ChatGPT: what's new in the latest version

OpenAI continues to update ChatGPT and has added several new features to the service in recent weeks. The changes affected not only artificial intelligence models but also image handling, document processing, shopping, and everyday tasks.

GPT-5.6 has become the primary model

One of the main changes was the update to the GPT-5.6 model lineup. For Free and Go users, GPT-5.6 Luna is gradually becoming available, which handles fast everyday queries.

For paid users, GPT-5.6 Sol is used in Instant mode, as well as in Medium, High, and Extra High modes. Users can choose the level of reasoning depending on the complexity of the task.

According to OpenAI, GPT-5.6 has received improvements in programming, information processing, research, cybersecurity, computer tasks, and design.

ChatGPT has improved image handling

In September, OpenAI introduced ChatGPT Images 2.5. The new version creates images faster and performs editing more accurately.

Users can start with ready-made templates, turn their own sketches into images, and edit already created materials. On mobile devices, there is also the ability to add comments to images during editing.

Additionally, OpenAI added the ability to share the prompt used to create the image.

Documents can now be scanned directly through ChatGPT

At the beginning of October, a new camera feature for working with documents appeared in ChatGPT. Users can sequentially photograph several pages, after which ChatGPT will automatically combine them into a single PDF file. The feature is gradually becoming available on iOS.

This can simplify working with notes, printouts, and other documents that previously had to be photographed and uploaded separately.

New shopping features have appeared in ChatGPT

Another update concerns product search. For clothing and accessories, a virtual try-on function has appeared.

Users can upload their photo and see how the selected item will look on them. Also, found items can be saved to favorites and organized into folders in ChatGPT Library.

New features are available in ChatGPT on mobile devices and in the web version.
