At GITEX AI Kazakhstan, a memorandum was signed to create the "Data Center Valley."
A tripartitional memorandum on the launch of the "Kazakhstan Data Center Valley" project was signed at the GITEX 2026 venue, aimed at establishing a regional AI hub in Central Eurasia.
The document was signed by the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development, Kazakhtelecom, and Presight. The signatories were Jaslan Madiev, Bagdat Musin, and Thomas Promotedham.
The project involves creating a large data center ecosystem with access to high-performance computing capabilities. This entails developing infrastructure on par with global IT clusters, utilizing GPUs and HPC for artificial intelligence technologies.
For implementation, a plot of land in the city of Ekibastuz, covering approximately 200 hectares near major power plants, has been identified, with the potential for expansion to 1,300 hectares, ensuring stable power supply.
Under the memorandum, the parties will focus on building hyperscale data centers, implementing high-performance systems, and establishing a flexible regulatory environment.
As noted by Bagdat Musin, collaboration with the G42 ecosystem provides access to advanced big data and AI implementation solutions, while Kazakhstan can offer global companies favorable conditions, including affordable energy and developed digital infrastructure.
The project's goal is to attract leading global IT and AI companies, develop the export of digital services, and strengthen the country's technological sovereignty. In the long term, the infrastructure could serve as the foundation for tokenized services, where computing power becomes part of the new digital economy.
According to Thomas Promotedham, Kazakhstan is viewed as one of the key centers for the development of sovereign artificial intelligence in the region, and the platform being created will enable the scaling of AI solutions at the state level.
Data centers will become a key element of this strategy, ensuring the operation of digital services, cloud platforms, and AI-based solutions, while their concentration within the "Data Center Valley" will enhance Kazakhstan's role in global digital infrastructure.
